Pilot Project
The Bristol Early Years Forum for Anti-Racist Practice is inviting up to five early years settings to join an additional research and practice-development strand during the 2026–27 academic year.
The core forum will remain free and open to all.
The pilot is for settings that wish to engage more between sessions and help us understand how anti-racist reflection connects to practice over time.
What participating settings would commit to:
• Nominate one or two adult practitioners who wish to take part voluntarily.
• Aim to attend the October, January and April BEYFARP sessions and the June celebration event.
• Agree to an anti-racist practice pledge or area of inquiry for the year.
• Undertake manageable practice activity between sessions.
• Submit short reflections or practice updates.
• Contribute to and review a professionally designed case study of the setting’s journey.
The work undertaken between sessions will connect directly to the themes explored within the forum. Each participating setting will receive £50 towards resources to support its chosen area of work. We will also work with each setting to produce a professionally designed case study of its journey, which the setting can use for its own reflection, communication and promotion.
We welcome expressions of interest from settings at every stage of this work. You may have attended BEYFARP for several years, joined only recently, or never attended the forum before. You do not need to present your setting as an example of established “best practice”. We are interested in settings that are willing to reflect honestly and learn alongside others as per the ethos of the forum.
The MS Form provides further information and asks a few questions about your setting, your interest in the pilot and what you hope to explore. Completing the form expresses interest and does not commit you to participation. We will use the responses to select a varied cohort of settings and will contact applicants before confirming participation and completing the formal consent process.

If more settings apply than the pilot can support, the team will select a small cohort that offers variation in setting type, local context, prior engagement with BEYFARP and stage of anti-racist practice development. Selection is not an assessment or judgement of a setting’s current quality. Settings that are not selected remain fully welcome at the forum.
